And let our people learn to devote themselves to doing good deeds to meet urgent needs, so they will not be unfruitful. (TLV)
The Godly mature life is not self-centered but selfless. It seeks out ways to serve and bless others especially those in needy and tragic circumstances. I often remind myself that leading a servant-life does not come naturally and, as the verse instructs, needs to be learned by the practice and repetition of doing good for others. In other words, selflessness is an acquired skill. The more I practice it the more natural it will feel.
