The Daily Nosh: Romans 13:9

For the commandments, “You shall not commit adultery; you shall not commit murder, you shall not steal, you shall not covet,” and any other commandment, are summed up in this word: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” (TLV)

When I find myself in difficult personal interactions, I have always found it helpful and self-instructive to apply this instruction and consider how I would like to be treated if I were the other person; then proceed to handle the interaction from that point of view. The situation doesn’t always work out smoothly but it does succeed in instilling in me a less self-centered and humble perspective. Anytime we can add humility to our lives and in our relationship with God, it is a blessing for “God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble.”
