The Daily Nosh – Romans 13:9
For the commandments, “You shall not commit adultery; you shall not murder, you shall not steal, you shall not covet,” and any other commandment – are summed up in this word: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” Romans 13:9
Nosh: When I find myself in difficult personal interactions, I have found it helpful to apply this instruction and consider how I would like to be treated if I were the other person; then proceed to handle the interaction from that point of view. The situation doesn’t always work out smoothly, but it does succeed in instilling within me a less self-centered, more humble perspective. Anytime we can add humility to our lives and our relationship with God, it is a blessing for “God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble” (James 4:6). (NKJV)
