The Daily Nosh – Proverbs 19:11

Daily Nosh

Good sense makes one slow to anger, and it is his glory to overlook an offense. (ESV) Proverbs 19:11

Nosh: This verse teaches two important guidelines for life. First, it is wise not to verbalize momentary anger from an insult or offense because it will likely cause  further acrimony and complication that will require time and effort to repair. Better to wait and not speak until the emotional storm passes, then proceed with a carefully considered response. Second, it is even wiser to ignore a personal insult altogether and not bear in our spirit the heavy and destructive burdens that result from unresolved anger. This bitterness, as many Scriptures counsel, will be an extremely destructive force in our lives and in the lives of those around us. (Hebrews 12:15)
