The Daily Nosh – Nehemiah 13:29-31
O my God, please remember them for the defilement of the priesthood as well as the covenant of the priesthood and the Levites. So I purged them from everything foreign and I assigned duties for the kohanim (priests) and the Levites, each to his own task, and for the wood offering at appointed times and for the first fruits. Remember me, O my God, for good. (TLV) Nehemiah 13:29-31
Nosh: This is a verse to remember when things around you are going badly despite the fact that you have been faithful to God. Nehemiah reminds God that even though Israel has not acted faithfully, he, himself, has done his best to serve Him and His interests. Nehemiah knew that faithfulness is one of God’s great love languages, and that his faithfulness enabled his ability to approach God with his request and expect a positive response. We certainly should expect no less.
