The Daily Nosh – Nehemiah 13:20-21
(Nehemiah speaking to persistent merchants wanting to make business on the Shabbat.)
Once or twice the traders and those selling all kinds of merchandise camped outside Jerusalem. But I warned them and said to them, “Why are you camping next to the wall? If you do so again, I will lay hands on you.” From that time they no longer came on the Shabbat. (TLV) Nehemiah 13:20-21
Nosh: When we do what we know is the right thing, our efforts are often resisted and our commitment tested by God or man to determine if our intentions are deeply held convictions or empty talk. Convictions must be tested and demonstrated publicly to be taken seriously.
