The Daily Nosh – Joshua 10:8, 16-19

(Concerning the five Amorite kings attacking Israel.)
Adonai (The Lord) said to Joshua, “Do not fear them, for I have given them into your hand. Not one of them will stand before you.” Now these five kings fled and hid themselves in the cave at Makkedah. So it was reported to Joshua, “The five kings are found hidden in the cave at Makkedah.” Joshua said, “Roll large stones against the mouth of the cave, assign men over it. but don’t stay there yourselves. Chase after your enemies and attack them at the rear. Don’t let them enter their cities, for Adonai your god has given them into your hand.” (TLV) – Joshua 10:8, 16-19
Nosh: Once Joshua had God’s permission and favor, he was relentless in pursuing God’s purpose and plan (in this case to attack, pursue and defeat the Amorite armies allied against Israel). He let nothing distract him from completing the task God had set before him. His objective was not only to capture the five kings but to utterly defeat the Amorite armies and eliminate the threat against Israel. His actions here teach us a great lesson. Know your ultimate objective and do not be distracted by associated or lesser objectives. Be focused and relentless in pursuing the calling and assignment God has given you, and until it is completed, never stop moving forward and never give up!
