The Daily Nosh – Isaiah 38:4-6
Then it came to pass, the word of Adonai (the Lord) came to Isaiah saying: “Go, and say to Hezekiah, thus says Adonai, the God of your Father David: ‘I have heard your prayer and I have seen your tears. Behold, I will add 15 years to your life. I will deliver you and this city from the hand of the king of Assyria; I will defend this city.’” (TLV) Isaiah 38:4-6
Nosh: God’s answer to Hezekiah’s desperate prayer for healing and extended life is a good description of how God defines generosity and how it should work in our lives. God not only gave Hezekiah what he requested (healing and extended life) He added more – victory over the Assyrian threat. Generosity, as God models it, is giving beyond what is requested or expected.
