The Daily Nosh – II Chronicles 6:7-9
Now it was in the heart of my father David to build a House for the Name of Adonai, the God of Israel. But Adonai said to David my father: “As for you wanting in your heart to build a house for My Name, you did well that this was in your heart. Nevertheless, you will not build the House. Rather your son who will be born to you, he will build the House for My Name.” (TLV) II Chronicles 6:7-9
Nosh: Not only was King David’s heart right to desire to build God a glorious temple, but he also was right in his assumption that God desired such a temple. However, as David discovered (and probably to his surprise) it was not God’s plan for him to do it, though he had the means and the passion. The wisdom for us today is to be careful to submit all of our plans to God, even those that appear noble, spiritual, and glorifying to Him. Failing to do so, we may find ourselves laboring with great and unnecessary difficulty against God’s purposes and plans.
