Until I come, devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture, to encouragement, and to teaching. Do not neglect the spiritual gift within you, which was given to you through prophecy with the laying on of hands of the elders. Practice these things – be absorbed in them, so that your progress may be clear to all. Give attention to yourself and your teaching. Persevere in these things, for in doing so you will save yourself and those who hear you. (TLV) – I Timothy 4:13-16
Nosh: Paul encourages Timothy to persevere in administering his gifting’s and in the performance of his calling. He infers that there will be resistance to his ministry but the key to success will be persistence in the face of these difficulties and will result in great blessing for many as well as himself. As long as we believe God has called us to do something, determined and faithful persistence is required and quitting is never an option.
