The Daily Nosh – I Samuel 3:7-9

Now Samuel had not experienced Adonai (the Lord) yet, since the word of Adonai had not yet been revealed to him. Adonai called Samuel again for the third time. So He got up and went to Eli, and said “Here I am, for you called me.” Then Eli perceived that Adonai was calling the boy. So Eli said to Samuel, “Go back to sleep, and if He calls you say: ‘Speak, Adonai, for your servant is listening.’” So Samuel went back and lay down in his place. (TLV) I Samuel 3:7-9
Nosh: This passage illustrates the value of having access to wise counsel when needed. In this case, God was speaking to Samuel but he didn’t recognize God’s voice. Eli, an older and more spiritually experienced man, helped Samuel understand that God was intervening in his life. Like Samuel, I have found that wise counsel shortens the learning curve and increases the presence of blessing in my life.
