The Daily Nosh – I Kngs 1:52-53

(This passage is referring to Adonijah who was seeking to install his own candidate for King upon King David’s soon demise. Instead, David installed Solomon raising great fear in Adonijah for his life.)
Then Solomon said, “If he shows himself a worthy man, then not a hair of him will fall to the ground. But if wickedness is found in him, he shall die.” So King Solomon sent, and they brought him down from the altar. He came and prostrated himself before King Solomon, and Solomon said to him: “Go to your home.” (TLV) I Kngs 1:52-53
Nosh: Although there is no guarantee, a humble spirit (as Adonijah exhibited before Solomon) often yields the sweet fruit of mercy and favor from God and man for “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” (James 4:6) (TLV)
