The Daily Nosh – Ezra 7:28b
I gained strength as the hand of Adonai (the Lord) my God was upon me, and I gathered leading men from Israel to go up with me. (TLV) Ezra 7:28b
Nosh: Courage is defined as moving forward despite the risk of failure. In Ezra’s situation he was risking not only his welfare but that of many others, as well as the possibility of failure, humiliation, and loss of reputation before the King of Persia. It was only as he sensed God’s favor in this holy venture to return to Jerusalem and repair the Temple that he was able to be courageous, move forward, and risk everything.
