The Daily Nosh – Deuteronomy 2:30-31

Daily Nosh

But Sihon the king of Heshbon would not let him (Moses) pass by him, because Adonai your God had stiffened his spirit and hardened his heart in order to hand him over to you this very day.  Adonai said to me, “See, I have begun to give Sihon and his land over to you – begin to take possession in order to take hold of his land.” (TLV) – Deuteronomy 2:30-31

Nosh: Claiming, possessing or obtaining that which God has promised to us often requires courage and risk. In order to possess what God had promised to Israel, required risking life and limb. God also said to begin to take possession. In other words, obtaining God’s promises is often a process. This was the first of many steps Israel endured to possess the Promised Land.  So how do we apply this to our lives? Like Moses, be strong, courageous and relentless, in pursuing God’s promise and revealed purpose. Second, expect a challenging process to that worthy end.
