The Daily Nosh – Deuteronomy 1:35-36

Daily Nosh

Not one of these men of this evil generation shall see the good land that I swore to give to your fathers, except Caleb the son of Jephuneh. He shall see it, and to him and to his children I will give the land on which he has trodden, because he has wholly followed the Lord. (ESV) Deuteronomy 1:35-36

Nosh: God was so angry with the Israelites who came out of Egypt and would not follow His direction to enter the Promised Land despite the many miracles they had seen, He decided not to allow them to enter at all. Caleb and Joshua were the exceptions. But why? God explains it was because they “wholly followed the Lord. In other words, Caleb and Joshua were willing to step out in faith obedient to His direction despite the considerable and overwhelming challenge they saw before them in conquering Canaan. The lesson here is that God is looking to use and promote men and women who have the courage to believe in Him and act in faith when He directs them to, regardless of the circumstances or risk.
