The Daily Nosh – Daniel 5:21-22

(Speaking about King Nebuchadnezzar.)
He was driven away from among men and his mind became like an animal, and his dwelling was with the wild asses; he fed on grass like an ox, and his body was damp with the dew of heaven until he recognized that God Most High is sovereign over the realm of mankind and that He set up over it whomever He wills. But you his son, Belshazzar, have not humbled your heart, even though you knew all this. (TLV) Daniel 5:21-22
Nosh: Belshazzar, Nebuchadnezzar’s son, grew up with the firsthand knowledge that God had dramatically judged and humbled his father for pride, yet he chose to ignore that reality. While this may seem surprising, it does highlight the fact that knowing the truth does not guarantee an individual will choose to follow it. One thing is certain—like Belshazzar, when we ignore God’s discipline and instruction, we do so at great risk of bringing upon ourselves divine judgment and severe personal consequence.
