Shelter and Support: How Joseph Project Reached Families Hiding Underground in Haifa
During the twelve-day Iran–Israel war, sirens echoed across the country, but in downtown Haifa, the fear hit differently. Many neighborhoods lacked proper bomb shelters, leaving families from already struggling backgrounds with nowhere to run.
Some were forced to take refuge three floors underground, in a damp, foul-smelling parking garage. Night after night, they slept on cold concrete floors, praying the layers of cement above them would be enough to shield them from the missiles overhead.
Amid this desperate situation, the Joseph Project International stepped in to bring relief and hope. Together with a trusted local partner, we provided emergency mattresses, clean clothing, and children’s activities to families seeking safety below ground. It wasn’t a permanent solution — but it was a lifeline in the midst of fear and uncertainty.
This is what your support makes possible: comfort for those hiding in basements, dignity for families who’ve lost everything, and a tangible reminder that they are not alone. Thank you to everyone who helped us make a difference during one of Israel’s darkest hours.
Please consider donating today to help us continue delivering critical aid to those affected by war and terror.
