Helping Children in Israel Begin the School Year with Confidence

A new school year brings excitement, new beginnings, and new opportunities. For many children across Israel, it also brings the need for basic school supplies that can place an additional burden on families already facing difficult circumstances.

Through the generosity of our donors and partners, Joseph Project International has been helping provide new school backpacks to children in communities across Israel, giving them something practical they need while also reminding them that they are seen, supported, and encouraged.

For the children receiving them, these backpacks are much more than school supplies. They bring smiles, excitement, and confidence of walking into the classroom prepared for the year ahead.

One new immigrant mother raising two children shared what receiving the backpacks meant to her family:

“As a new immigrant, so much about life in Israel is still new and challenging for me. It is not always easy to manage, and every expense makes a difference. When my children received their backpacks, they hugged them with excitement and could not stop smiling. For me, it was more than a gift — it gave us a sense of belonging. I felt that there are people who think about us, welcome us, and want to see us succeed. Thank you so much to everyone who made this possible.”

Her experience reflects what this effort is all about. Each backpack placed into a child’s hands is an opportunity to provide practical assistance while offering encouragement to children and families building their lives in Israel.
