37th IAMCS Conference
January 5-8, 2020 in Orlando, Florida, the International Alliance of Messianic Congregations & Synagogues (IAMCS) held their 37th annual Messianic Rabbi’s conference. 200 Messianic leaders from the United States, Israel, France, Canada, Ukraine, Crimea, Romania, etc. gathered for encouragement, worship, teaching, and fellowship.
The theme of this year’s conference was derived from Habakkuk 2:3 (CJB) – “For the vision is meant for its appointed time; it speaks of the end, and it does not lie. It may take a while, but wait for it; it will surely come, it will not delay.” 20/20 vision for the year 2020!
Main plenary speakers that provided vision included: IAMCS Chairman Messianic Rabbi David Chernoff, prolific author and Messianic Rabbi Jonathan Cahn; Mat Staver, Chairman of the Liberty Counsel who spoke on serious threats related to religious liberty, and mega-church Pastor David McQueen (Beltway Baptist Church, Abilene, TX), who spoke on rekindling passion and leading from a place of rest. Dynamic praise and worship was led throughout the conference by Messianic music pioneer Joel Chernoff and Israeli Messianic Jewish recording artist Sarah Liberman, along with a consortium band that accompanied her.
Two new Messianic Jewish congregations were admitted into Membership (new Members are admitted all-year long) following the IAMCS Steering Committee meeting at this conference: Shoresh David Messianic Synagogue (St. Petersburg, FL) led by Bob Warnick and ShuvahYisrael of the Palm Beaches (Del Ray, FL) led by Rabbi Dr. Charles Kluge.
One new licensee was added to the IAMCS Ordination program (licensees are admitted all-year long) as well: Tony Mardian (Messianic Rabbi of Hope of Israel Messianic Synagogue, Roanoke, VA)
Three licensees fulfilled their 2-year program of licensure to receive s’micha (full ordination): Messianic Rabbi Ken Alpren (Kol Dodi, Nashville, TN); Assistant Congregational Leader Brent Woods (Bet Shalom, Fresno, CA); and Messianic Teacher Scott Mejia (Beth Israel, Lodi, NJ)
